The notebook keeps paid content, if it ever accepts any, behind rules written before the first enquiry arrives.

Rini Hotel Notes exists to publish independent notes on small European hotels, and its value is that the verdicts cannot be purchased. This page states the rules that any sponsored placement would follow, written before the first enquiry, so that readers and hoteliers know the ground in advance.

The rules

  • Any paid placement is labelled in plain words at the top of the page or the block, never in a footnote of grey.
  • Placements never enter the reviews: no rate line, no mark, no ranking and no breakfast verdict can be sponsored, adjusted or softened.
  • Placements live only in clearly reserved spaces, listed on this page, and are visible to the reader as what they are.
  • The desk accepts no payment for including a house in a note, and houses that decline to work with the notebook are reviewed on exactly the same terms as those that do.

Why the rules are public

A notebook of this kind trades on trust the way a small hotel trades on its table: slowly earned, quickly lost. The editorial policy states how the reviews themselves are written, the terms and privacy pages state the reader's side of the arrangement, and questions about any of it reach the desk through the contact page. As of this season, the notebook carries no sponsored placements at all; if that changes, this page carries the record first.
